Mailsafe Blast Containment
Mailsafes are all about personnel safety and business continuity. Protecting employees against postal devices, or items designed to look suspicious, these devices can create a lot of disruption to the targeted organisation or extensive damage if the device were to detonate in an open area.
Should a suspect package be identified or a device detonate in a mail room it would generally lead to a large ‘scene of crime’, and a Police investigation, with huge disruption to the organisation and extended closure of the mail room, coupled with the expensive replacement/repair cost to the damaged equipment or property and the real possibility of injury to employees.
This type of attack is designed to put a drain on an organisation’s resources and capabilities not to mention the potential negative impact it could have to a brand. To be able to place a suspect device in a purpose built container allows staff the peace of mind to evacuate the area knowing that a detonation with the associated risk to employees and potential damage to property will be minimised. The addition of containing the forensic evidence together in the Mailsafe also helps with reducing any investigation time spent on site, allowing the organisation to get back operational quickly and with minimal disruption to day to day business.

Developed to safely contain suspect mail and parcels, the Mailsafe systems come in two main variants: top opening (Mailsafe 110) and front opening (Mailsafe 100). Optional features include security locking, earthing points, inner shelves, legs rather than wheels and brackets for mounting into vehicles. These additional features expand the use to include storage of explosive samples in laboratories and vehicles. The Mailsafe range has recently expanded to include the much larger Mailsafe 200 which is currently in operation at mail handling facilities.

Mailsafe 100 & 110
The Mailsafe 100/110 have been designed to work alongside mail scanning equipment for rapid and safe isolation of postal items that cause concern to the mailroom staff. The safe storage of the suspect item allows the organisation to execute the companies evacuation procedures in a safe manner, in addition to potentially reducing the extent of the evacuation required within the facility and allowing the business to operate uninterrupted.
Should the device detonate while inside the Mailsafe, the unit will ensure minimal damage to the surrounding room, help protect employees and the equipment while ensuring containment of any forensic evidence. All factors lead to the organisation minimising the disruption a device like this is designed to create and ensuring there is very little impact to the day to day business.
